ModernitY, DISTINCT ARCHITECTURAL CHOICES FOR REFINED CONTEMPORARY DESIGN
The castle’s new look respects its identity while simultaneously allowing for a more contemporary interpretation. Like a door governing time, modern comfort allows visitors to understand the castle history, from its initial setting in the Bronze Age up until today.
Hohlandsbourg Castle and the 21st century
The architectural initiative is defined on two levels:
- Act upon the cultural and touristic operations of the castle : refocus the accesses, the trails and perspectives to optimise the “work tool” and manage the visitor flows and activities.
- Reveal the intrinsic symbolism of the castle by defining its viewpoints and providing precise comprehension of its various entities. The force which the Castle releases and its historical perception must be understandable through a succession of targeted but decisive structural work.
The work: reinterpretation of the land, contemporary additions, highlighting the site’s guiding principles, … all this regenerates the structure and anchors it into the 21st century.
