The works to enhance the Hohlandsbourg from a cultural and tourist standpoint from April 2011 to today, allow visitors to discover a Historic landmark with a superb exhibition area, an outdoor theatre, an educational-learning room, a brasserie and a large open available for receptions and events.
ModernitY, DISTINCT ARCHITECTURAL CHOICES FOR REFINED CONTEMPORARY DESIGN
The castle’s new look respects its identity while simultaneously allowing for a more contemporary interpretation. Like a door governing time, modern comfort allows visitors to understand the castle history, from its initial setting in the Bronze Age up until today.
Culture, modern and interactive scenography
The various scenographic displays pertain to the whole site, creating a graphic and narrative link of the castle history within its historical and geographical context.
In this manner visitors can fully satisfy their curiosity and pursue their visit with the permanent exhibit.
The Hohlandsbourg Castle can be discovered in several ways.
An outdoor approach outside the walls allows the Castle to slowly unfold its beauty starting from the parking area. Visitors then can continue by entering the courtyard and the Plessis garden.

THE LIVING QUARTERS TELL A STORY
The 13th-century living quarters, successively overhauled in the 14th and 16th centuries by the Count of Lupfen and the Baron Lazare of Schwendi, were initially intended to improve the castle residential functions and living conditions. Today they harbour temporary exhibitions and the permanent exhibition presented on the site.
